Seni, I write from Austin. I’m one of those so called successful folks. The reality is we are ashamed to publicly declare that our successes has given us more options than most would ever have. I moved to the US on an EB1 Green Card, a permanent resident visa reserved for the top 1% in arts, sports, academics and entrepreneurship.
Thankfully, this move should not be about yourself and your family alone. It could and should include love and increased resolve to help (fa)motherland in whichever way you can. This includes continuing to help put more Nigerians in Nigeria in the middle-class and upper-class bucket, backing bold actors in the political space (there will be upsets, I tell you) and encouraging others to do the same.
You probably know all of this. And if you come by Austin (next best Valley and probably the right place to be, post-COVID), holla at your boy.
Peace and love!
P.S. I’m building Moneymie, a financial platform for diasporans, for reasons adjacent to themes above. Love to chat someday.
