Opeyemi Awoyemi

Opeyemi is a serial technology entrepreneur and investor from Nigeria. He is currently the General Partner of Fast Forward, an impact venture studio and pre-seed fund, and also the cofounder of Moneymie, a neobank for immigrants.

Previously, Opeyemi cofounded Jobberman in 2010 and helped build it to become the largest online recruitment platform in Africa with 5m+ users and 200k+ employers in Nigeria and Ghana. Every month, Jobberman fills 5000+ job opportunities. He served as the company’s first CTO, CMO, Head of Product, and eventually CIO. Jobberman was acquired by Ringier One Africa Media (ROAM) and Opeyemi again played a pivotal role in setting up ROAM which became the largest online classifieds group in Africa; and partially exited to a stellar group of institutional investors like Ringer AG, Tiger Global, and SEEK. His last role at Ringier One Africa Media was as Head of Jobs division, with Product strategy and P&L responsibility across 5 countries (Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda).

Opeyemi worked briefly at Indeed, the world’s largest jobs website as Senior Technical Product Manager leading Jobseeker APIs and Gigs teams at different points.

He is also the Founder & Chairman of WhoGoHost, the largest domain and cloud hosting service in Nigeria with over 50% market share of .ng ccTLD domains and 70k+ clients.

Opeyemi’s work has been highlighted by Mark Zuckerberg publicly as a leading light in using technology to create developmental impact in Africa. Opeyemi and his work has been featured in Forbes, CNN, Bloomberg, Fast Company, Financial Times, BBC, CNBC, BusinessDay, BellaNaija and TechCabal to mention a few. Through his work in Marketing, Products, and Technology, Opeyemi has, directly and indirectly, impacted millions of lives.

Also an investor, he has made bets on 50+ tech startups in Nigeria, Kenya, USA, and the UK; and currently serves as Venture Partner to portfolio businesses and select entrepreneurs, helping them start, grow and scale technology-enabled ventures. His venture studio, Fast Forward has co-built 5 impact startups solving big challenges in education, job creation, small business growth and financial inclusion.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from the Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria and completed an executive education program for CIOs and Technology Leaders from CIO Institute, Haas Business School, and an executive education program at Wharton Business School on Innovation and Growth. He is also an MIT Legatum Foundry Fellow.

He has domain expertise in technology innovation, technology leadership, product development, growth marketing, user experience, graphics and web design and online marketing; and he is an advisor and investor to a couple of tech startups in the Nigerian e-commerce, mobile, payment, new media, and entertainment space.

Opeyemi is happily married to Omolara with 2 children.
